The completely upright and God-fearing Job lost everything. In extreme suffering, he once considered himself righteous and felt angry and dissatisfied, until he understood that God created the universe and all things, possessing all sovereignty and perfect wisdom, love, and justice. Thus, Job recognized his own ignorance and pride, and finally humbled himself and repented before God.
The entire Book of Job leads us to understand that God’s measure of justice is not a simple linear balance; and God’s love and blessings for us are not rewards for our good deeds. Whether life’s circumstances are as pleasant as birdsong and flowers or as devastating as mountains collapsing and earth splitting, the Book of Job tells us that God is always our loving heavenly Father!
